Power Girls: Beautiful, Confident and Strong!®
Girls being taught the lessons of life by competent and caring women is an ancient practice occurring in many civilizations. The American society has lost this tradition to technology and the business of life. EC is intentionally gathering girls in circles to create space and time for the important things of life: developing beautiful, confident and strong girls.
This adaptation of the old wise women creating space for girls is based on ancient traditions where young women are involved in learning and skills-based programming that leads to the bestowal of a promising adulthood through the accomplishment of some rite or task. Teaching girls about the accomplishments of others of their heritage and culture provides them an opportunity to see themselves as belonging to a people who have demonstrated worth and contributed to the welfare of humankind. This contributes to a more balanced assessment of their responsibility, role, and position in community.
