March 4: Your Mind, the Media, and Mental Powers with Dr. Jeff Menzise

This presentation will involve an in-depth review of some of the most influential and powerful aspects of marketing as a system of behavior modification. This practical workshop will explore media examples (videos, advertisements, etc.) as well as demonstrate daily exercises for the cultivation of mental and spiritual awareness that can be used to remove one from the automatic influences of their environment. Dr. Menzise will integrate tools from his psychological, spiritual, and symbolist training to conduct this highly interactive, entertaining and powerful workshop.

Biography

Dr. Jeff Menzise is an alumnus of both Fisk and Howard Universities where he received advanced training and degrees in clinical psychology and is licensed as a school psychologist in the District of Columbia. He is continually praised as the scholar of the future, and a leader amongst his peers. Jeff Menzise has provided informative and outstanding trainings to school systems, social service agencies, non-profit organizations, state institutions, including: Walmart, Trial Lawyers College, National Black Child Development Institute, The Institute for the Study of African American Education (ISAAC), Meharry Medical College, Family Matters of Greater Washington, Riverbend Maximum Security Prison, and Maryland Cares.

His expertise and cultural competency extends beyond the borders of the U.S. as demonstrated by his experience working for the Ministry of Education in Nevis, and with the WAEC in both Gambia and Ghana. Dr. Menzise has also been invited to present at the prestigious Oxford Roundtable in Oxford, England (invitation was accepted and presentation was a success), and was most recently recruited as a Kettering Foundation Scholar for 2012-2014. In regards to his publications, Dr. Menzise has authored and co-authored several articles and chapters in journals, encyclopedias and book. He is currently conducting concurrent research on media influence, J.A. Rogers’ writings, and developing a highly progressive behavior modification tool for use amongst clinical populations.
