Bowie State University’s Counseling Center and the National Male Minority Health Project in collaboration with New Revival Center of Renewal’s Reentry Program along with the Collective Empowerment Group, the Empowerment Center and multiple community stakeholders are coming together the day before Father’s Day to discuss the issues of mass incarceration, the resultant disparities with respect to minority males and their ultimate reentry to society.
The Theme of the summit is “WE ARE ALL CONNECTED” and we can all be of mutual benefits to one another.
The Purpose of the summit will be to stimulate ‘solution based’ dialog around the disparities of male minority incarceration, mental health issues and physical health problems then transfer that dialog into plausible next-steps for solutions.
The Outcomes will be to provide collaborative support, information and resources to assist the families of those who are presently affected by the afore mentioned maladies. This collaborative effort is one step in the healing process that is so obviously necessary in our community. We know that hurt people, hurt people and it is time to heal.
